I just had surgery for cancer here. Everybody was very polite and upbeat. The only issue I've had is trying to find an endocrinologist affiliated with Albany med and that can see me within a reasonable amount of time like 6 weeks. soonest I could get an appointment is 10 weeks. I think Albany Matt needs to organize things a little bit more but on the whole it was a positive experience for me

Brought my son (who has Leukemia) to the Pediatric ED last night at 8pm for a high fever. We got a private room in 7 minutes, staff was exceptionally friendly, he got his meds fast, and we were on our way home to sleep in our beds by 11:30pm after all his blood and urine test results came back from the lab. Everyone from the doctor on call, the nurses and even the valet were amazing. I was blown away

I would give zero stars to Dr. Natarajan Ravi. He was rude, heartless, and extremely disrespectful to both me and my mother, who was his patient at Albany Medical Center. I reported his behavior to Albany Medical Center Patient Relations last Friday and was assured he would no longer be involved in my mother’s care. However, just a few days later, he returned yesterday and immediately issued a discharge order for my mother without any discussion or notification.

My mother is nonverbal, unable to walk, talk, or swallow, and requires 24/7 safety monitoring in the hospital. No rehabilitation facility will accept her under these circumstances. Did he expect her to be thrown out onto the street? His actions are beyond unacceptable, and his medical license should be revoked.

Post Op was the single worst experience of my 59 years! After 25 hours without food, I was not offered a thing to eat or drink. The nurse was yelling at me to stop shaking and, thankfully, the anesthesia assistant saved me! He told her to stop yelling at me because this happens after a nerve block. He told her to get me warm and keep me warm until it was over. Then she said I had to pee before I could leave and she put the bed pan BACKWARDS!! So I was left sitting in my own urine! She couldn't read English well enough to read my discharge instructions to me and when I asked where my crutches were, she said my paperwork didn't say anything about crutches! My husband had to read her the part about crutches in my discharge summary, so she sent these two young kids looking for crutches "for someone 5'4"! They came back and said they couldn't find any that size so they "brought these". When we got home (2 hours away), my husband realized that they'd given me youth crutches! Evidently they don't know that crutches are adjustable. I will never have anything done at this facility again... if my life depends on it!

Had an infection in my eye. Was transported to ER at AMC. Staff was friendly n the eye dr on was so great to help with what was going on. Not complaining bout the medical treatment. My complaint is that I had no way home (eventually got a ride) & when asked about public transportation home I was told from 12a-7a there is none. So I had to wait 3 hrs before I got a ride home. Need more programs for those who need help to get home 24/7

This hospital needs the Dept of Health to step in and do a comprehensive review of patient care. My sister was transferred from another facility for emergency surgery. She was left in a wheelchair in the ER hall for 8 hours in intense pain. The ER triage was so overcrowded, you could barely walk through. She was finally given a recliner and put on high dose morphine. She saw a doctor for a couple of minutes whose only care was to order blood tests and antibiotics. The order for antibiotics was finally administered 7 hours later. After complaining to the nurse manager she was transferred to a med surgery room on day 2. At this point 7 different doctors periodically came in over 4 days and gave conflicting orders. No iv fluids were ordered even though she was often npo in anticipation of surgery. One doctor commented, Our ER is disgraceful. It is an embarrassment to the medical profession. " A nurse on the floor stated we don't know what our patients diagnosis is, doctors give conflicting orders because they don't talk to each other, and interns order drugs that are dangerous and we have to call to cancel. One doctor admitted he didn't read any of the tests ,and ordered a procedure a doctor the day before said was dangerous and should not be done. Luckily we spoke with another doctor. The ER can be compared to a third world country. The care there is chaotic. The lower level hospital was ten times more proficient. Albany med needs a serious overhaul. It is not a safe place to send your loved ones. Do better Albany. Read the Times Union article. Their ER is now rated one of the worst in the entire country.

I went because my hip was in a very bad state. I have documentation proving my hip is already extensively damaged and the hospital started I was fine. I will be to a lawyer Monday. Good luck to all us poor, surviving people out there. No one cares anymore.

Been waiting on xray all day only to find whomever ordered it did not follow through. Now sitting and waiting again to have three people walk in and ask haven’t you gone for your X-ray yet. Topped off with one cleaning lady come into the room talking on her ear buds on a personal call the before during and after she left room. Followed by an aid who came in to monitor bp but again was talking in a foreign language taking a personal call before during and after he entered the room (at least 45 min). This new way of medicine is a joke. Hospitalists and medicines in charge of your care are jokes. Not happy campers. But more than a few people should be fired
